Hervey Bay Marina
Whilst you’re in Hervey Bay visit the Hervey Bay Marina. The Hervey Bay Marina’s correct title is the Great Sandy Straits Marina, also known as the “Hervey Bay Boat Harbour” or the “Urangan Boat Harbour”; a huge boat harbour protected by a breakwater wall of rock that contains a marina, slipways, repair facilities, boat club, tourist terminal, cafes, shops, resorts and more.

Boats of all types can be viewed within the harbour, from large catamarans to yachts and all manner of commercial and private vessels. Whale watching and Dolphin watching tour boats together with a host of other water related services all operate from here, including ferries to Fraser Island.
The harbour is also home to the de-commissioned ‘red lighthouse’; a well known landmark of the Hervey Bay Boat Club. The Boat Club is very popular for dining, socializing and its gambling venue.

Did you know?
- The Great Sandy Straits Marina has a real whaling harpoon gun on display at the Tourist Terminal but don’t worry, it has never been used to hurt a whale. A whaling company ordered it from a factory in Norway but as countries around the world began to abandon their whaling activity, the company never took delivery.

- There is a replica Humpback Whale statue that sets the world record for the ‘highest spy hop ever’ at the Marina. This replica whale also provides a daily reminder that Hervey Bay is the ‘Whale Watch Capital of the World’.
