Hervey Bay Beach

Hervey Bay is literally surrounded by beautiful beaches. One of the most popular is Torquay Beach; a long, shallow and pristine beach where on the odd occasion Dolphins and Dugongs can be seen. Torquay Beach offers perfect, pristine and calm waters that deepen gradually, making it ideal and safe for people of all ages to swim. Sheltered by Fraser Island, the waters are clear and safe from nasties – there are no stingers to worry about. The sand is clean and wide and offers a perfect playground for a variety of activities. It is common to see people playing beach games and Fishermen trying their luck, usually chaperoned by one or more Pelicans eager to take advantage of some easy food. With so much empty beach space there is plenty of room for everyone.

Torquay Beach is also a very popular water sports location. Available for hire are Jet Skis, Mini-Catamarans, Canoes, Sailboats and Fishing Boats, as well as tackle. Ride the Big Banana, bounce across the water on a tube ride, or hire a sailboard. The Sailing Club and boat ramp are close by for sailing enthusiasts, or laze on the beach and watch the weekend water events regularly hosted by the local Life Saving Club.
Torquay Beach runs parallel and adjacent to the Esplanade and is mere seconds away from Hervey Bay’s beach side café’s, hotels, restaurants and other shopping services.
You can walk, cycle or rollerblade the entire length of the beach using Hervey Bay’s most popular paved walking/cycle track. Beautiful native trees and bushes shade the track all the way along and also hide the Esplanade shops from view when on the beach, creating a tranquil natural beach setting. Handy access can be gained to Torquay Beach from Organ Park; a beautifully landscaped park offering children’s playground facilities, showers, and BBQ areas. Organ Park also offers disabled access to the beach and walk-across-the-road access to all the entertainment in the Torquay shopping strip. Fitness enthusiasts might like to use the free gymnasium equipment or take part in the public Tai Chi sessions that start at 7am daily.
